For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10 Have you ever met someone, and at some point in the process of getting to know them you think to yourself, “this is my kind of person”?  And it’s the best feeling because whatever it is that causes you to feel that- whether it be personal values or beliefs, or a common denominator between the two of you- once you know that they’re your kind of people, you can relax.  The awkward small talk and fear of saying the wrong thing fades and you can just be yourself.  And it’s so exciting because making those kinds of friends is rare.  That happened for me a year and a half ago when I met Tom and Lori.   Tom and Lori are business partners who started a consulting company 21 years ago to, as they told my fifth and sixth grade classes last week, “help organizations help people”.  Their work has taken them to over 30 countr...

Happy Thanksgiving!

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12: 28-29 Wedding preparations are in full swing! We had a committee meeting last week where every decision was discussed and voted on by the staff (yes, every decision), and then smaller committees were formed for each part of the celebration (décor, food, security, cleaning, drinks, etc).  All of the smaller committees were assigned a chairperson who was to arrange meeting times for the committee and then report all of their discussions to me.  The major topic of discussion was the price of the horn players who will lead our procession from school down into town and back after the wedding ceremony, as well as which kind of car we should rent for Joseph and I to ride in during the procession. A Week in the Life

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the day of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23: 6 We had a pretty exciting afternoon here at KEMPS on Saturday.  Early last week we got in touch with a local vet about having Lucky spayed.  But when he came to see her, he told us that the kittens were still too young and that we needed to wait another month so that she could recover fully without her or the kittens suffering from separation anxiety.  He told us that Leo however, the only cat we still have from Lucky’s first litter, was old enough to be neutered and that it was probably a good idea to so sooner rather than later.   So Saturday afternoon the vet and his assistant arrived with all of their supplies, ready to do the procedure.  They asked for a pot of boiled water and a clean table to work on.  As they prepared, a large group of students started to gather around the front porch, curious as to what was happeni...
